Earthanchor 1 - 5
The architectural firm UULAS in Kristianstad has created a strong organic language - lamps hang like drops of water towards a glass mosaic floor signifying water. I have claimed that surface. An area in which art, architecture, design can grow to create a wholeness. The earthanchor is a small detail in the building structure, a grounding tool stuck into the earth. The title "Earthanchor" may rest as a metaphore for my work. The surface comes from a facade I have passed by somewhere. It is naked, raw and undisguised. It could have been cast in blasted concrete - or chiseled in porous stone. But it is clay whose color appears at a certain temperature. The building's facade is also ceramic - the same material meets outside and inside. There is an obviousness in the meeting between the shiny glass floor and the sculptural pieces. A whole has been divided. At certain moments the pieces float like seeds on a watery surface; the next moment they assume the form of sun-dried sand formations. That is what I see. The seed again - stranded, and digging its way into the earth demanding water.
