My work has preliminarily been concerned with approaching what
is ”animal”. And about inviting cows into my artistic process. the
relationship between animals and humans interests me. in this project,
being able to take part in the daily life of a farmer with his animals has
deepened my insight into my own work. it has also made me realize
that one approach to art is daring to be open to unexpected meetings.
initiating a dialogue with others who are not givens within the art
world, such as producers of salt licks, production leaders, moulders,
ceramic glazers, kiln masters. Factories house a number of exciting
activities and a great deal of skill. interesting people who enrich and
lead me towards new ideas.
important participants in this project are, foremost, the cows, the salt
lick industry, and the industrial porcelain factory. it is a challenge to combine
the natural force of a cow’s tongue shaping the sugar-cube form
of a salt lick with a strict approach to a material, industrial porcelain. For
the past three years i have had my studio at the ifö sanitary ware factory
in Bromölla. not least from a perspective of pure craftsmanship has it
been challenging. A fantastic insight into a very beautiful and successful
marriage between two materials: plaster and kaolin.
the porcelain salt lick is for me: the fruitful result of meetings. Poetry
in the living space between humans animals. something that contains
something magical. A human eye reflected in an animal eye.
